BANGKOK, 30 November 2015: A new airport express module has been added to the Amadeus selling platform that will allow travel agencies to include an airport express train ticket in a traveller’s PNR booking.

The airport express train transfer can be bundled with other bookings such as hotel rooms to bring the ‘door-to-door booking experience’ one step closer to reality.

Airport express providers run transport links between airports and city centres and are a popular option for airline travellers who prefer trains to the more expensive taxi transfers.

Heathrow Express is the first to implement this service and will be followed by AirTrain in Brisbane early next year.

inside no 5There will be a global roll out starting in France, Germany, Scandinavia and Russia, later in 2016.

When travel agents book flights to or from cities with airport express services, a pop-up bar notifies the agent that they can also sell a train ticket.

In just two clicks, an airport express ticket can be added to the travel documents.

Heathrow Express director Fraser Brown said: “We’re excited to be the first airport express service in the Amadeus booking system… Using the Amadeus system helps us reach a worldwide customer base.”

As the airport express booking is fully integrated in the PNR, the traveller has one complete itinerary for their journey.

Brisbane will be the second airport to use the service, which should be popular with Australian and international travel agents who need to book Airtrain for travellers visiting Brisbane City and the Gold Coast.

“Our new airport express tool brings us one step closer to reaching our vision for a truly seamless, door-to-door travel experience. Having on board some of the leading airport express services across the globe unlocks a brand new offering for our travel agency community that allows them not just to satisfy customers’ needs, but drive loyalty,” commented Thomas Drexler, Head of Rail & Ground Travel at Amadeus.
