NGHE AN, 30 January 2015: Vietnam’s Prime Minister has approved a long-term plan to upgrade Vinh Airport in the central province of Nghe An to become an international airport.
It will take another 15 years to achieve its full status as an international airport, but according to a local media report, the Vinh Airport master was first approved back in 2006 and then revised in 2011.
It will have aircraft bays and will be expanded to handle 2.5 million passengers annually by 2025. The number will reach 7 million by 2030, the report said.
To gain approval, the Nghe An provincial People’s Committee and the Airports Corporation of Vietnam have agreed to invest to extend the airport to serve such A320, A321 and the smaller ATR72s.
