App highlights Brunei heritage

BRUNEI, 29 JULY 2014: Places of historical or religious significance are the core features of a new app released by Brunei Tourism to make it more convenient for visitors to source accurate information before they travel.

The launch ceremony for the Brunei Islamic Tourism and Grand Mosques for the Ipad was held Monday at the Setia Pahlawan Hall, Ministry of Industry Primary Resources.

The app was officiated by the Honourable Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, Minister of Industry and Primary Resources.

Also present during the opening ceremony were the permanent secretary at the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources, the deputy permanent secretaries at the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources, heads of departments as well as tourism stakeholders.

The app which will be available for download by the public through the Apple store is an initiative by the Tourism Development Department to promote places of historical or religious significance in Brunei Darussalam, as well as the Sultanate’s Islamic way of life as exemplified by the MIB philosophy and the Negara Zikir concept.

Tourists visiting Brunei will find all the information they need to get around Brunei such as hotels and accommodation, grand mosque listing and tour operator information.

Brunei Tourism is the Tourism Development Department in Brunei’s Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources, in charge of international promotion and marketing of Brunei as a tourism destination of choice, acting as secretariat and executor of Brunei Tourism Board’s mandate.
