BANGKOK, 23 July 2012: Bangkok Airways launched “Wow Promotion” quoting deals that undercut low-cost carriers for early bookings on routes to Samui, Chiang Mai and Phuket.

The booking period will start from 1 August and end 14 September, while the travel period runs from 17 September until 30 November.

The Wow fares are Bt2,890 to Chiang Mai; Bt3,390 to Phuket and Bt5,900 (17 September to 31 October) and Bt4,900 (November) to Samui.

Samui Island

Compared to Thai Airways International, the PG fares are considerably cheaper. THAI’s Thailand Plus is good for departures ex-Bangkok until 30 September sells at Bt4,570 to Chiang Mai and Bt5,460 to Phuket. There are no promotions for its two daily flights to Samui that is fixed at Bt9,340.

Compared to budget carriers who operate flights to Chiang Mai and Phuket, PG’s deals are close or even lower than the competitors.

Nok Air quotes Chiang Mai fares from Bt3,980 (five daily flights) and Phuket, Bt3,580 (two daily). Orient Thai Airlines sells both cities from Bt3,100 (two daily each). Meanwhile, Thai AirAsia has regular fares starting at Bt3,300 to Chiang Mai (seven daily) and Bt3,400 to Phuket (eight flights daily).

When checking out low-cost airline, be aware they add insurance and administration charges that raise the net fare and this is not flagged prominently when checking web fares.

All fares are inclusive of taxes and surcharges and subject to availability.

I assume all fares quoted are return fares. What about one way?
