Associations gain awards

BANGKOK, 11 June 2012: Tourism Authority of Thailand recognised 88 persons for their support of Thailand tourism during the Thailand Tourism Festival 2012, 8 June.

Presiding  over the award ceremony, TAT governor, Suraphon Svetasreni said: “The awards honour people who have contributed tourism or created tour programmes and introduced higher standards to the industry.”

In the tourism association category the following were recognsed:

• Association of Thai Travel Agents — Sisdivachr Cheewarattanaporn (president); Charoen Wangananont (secretary); Anek Srishevachart (vice president); and Chidchai Sakornbadee (vice president);

• Association of Domestic Travel — Maiyarat Pheerayakoses (former president in 2004 to 2006; 2008 to 2010 and 2010 to 2012);

• Tourism Council of Thailand — Kongkrit Hiranyakit (planning and policy president), Pornthip Hirankate (vice president), and Apichart Patcharapinyopong (development office head assistant) ;

• Thai Hotels Association — Surapong Techaruvichit (president) and Prakit Chinamornpong (honourary consultant).

Awards were given to travel executives  heading tourist attractions, tour companies, hotels and government agencies related to tourism. Some teachers who had made a contribution to the environment or in establishing quality standards  or related tourism developments were also included on the honours list.

    There are so many people receive this award. Why does TAT not include this award in Thailand Tourism Awards ? Khun Don and Khun Imtiaz should be deserved to receive this award too, shouldn’t be ?
