More movies shot in Thailand

BANGKOK, 21 March 2012: Thailand earned a record of Bt788.98 million from on-location film shoots in Thailand in the first two months of 2012, according to the Thailand Film Office Department, which is supervised by Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
The department reported, Tuesday, that during January to February 121 films, documentaries, TV commercials, TV series, and music videos were filmed on location in Thailand generating Bt788.98 million in revenue compared to 134 productions and Bt312.58 million in revenue during the same period last year.
Of the 121 productions, there were 22 documentaries, 67 adverts, 18 TV series, three music video productions and 11 films.
Japan film makers topped the list in the first two months with 32 productions followed by 20 from India, 19 from Europe, 11 from South Korea, nine from Hong Kong, six from the United States, two from Australia, and one each from China and Taiwan.
In February alone, there were 65 productions that generated Bt101.63 million compared to 72 productions that earned Bt155.57 million during the same month last year.
Of the 65 productions, there were nine documentaries, 39 adverts, one music video production, and seven films.
Japan production teams also led the field in February with 18 film shoots followed by 13 from India, seven from Europe, six each from South Korea and Hong Kong, two from US, and one each from Taiwan and Australia.
