BANGKOK, 29 February 2012: Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific, yesterday, announced a plan to open the world’s first Cartoon Network-themed water park in Bang Saray, close to Pattaya, on Thailand’s eastern seaboard.

Cartoon Network AMAZONE is being developed in conjunction with Amazon Falls Company, a resort developer in Thailand.

Covering 14 acres, the Cartoon Network AMAZONE is the revised version of the Amazon Falls Water Theme Park that has been undergoing development over the past couple of years and was initially due to open in 2010.

The Cartoon Network AMAZONE is now scheduled to open in 2013 and will be set in a Amazon Rainforest environment, while infusing the popular animated series heroes including Ben 10, The Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo and The Amazing World of Gumball.

It will feature attractions including a gigantic family wave pool, a winding adventure river, speed-racing slides, family raft rides and interactive water play fortresses for kids.

Cartoon Network AMAZONE is set to attract up to 800,000 visitors a year when fully open.

Amazon Falls chairman, Liakat Dhanji said: “Cartoon Network is a global household name, and with this strategic alliance, we have no doubt that it will be a great draw for our park.”

Bang Saray is a resort and fishing village, 16 km south of Pattaya.

In Thailand there are two large water parks: the old Siam Park in Bangkok and Splash Jungle Splash in Phuket on Mai Khao Beach that opened early 2010.

Details of investment, marketing plans and future development at the proposed new water park site will be presented by company officials at a press conference to be held soon.
