PHUKET, 5 January 2012: Phuket gains a new “ladyboy” show mid-January owned and operated by transgender specialist show company, Phuket Simon Cabaret.
According to a report in Phuket News the new show will be branded, Simon Star Show and will be located at a 11,200 square metre site in Mueang district near Phuket Rajabhat University, just 3.5 km from Phuket town.
An existing theatre was renovated at a cost of more than Bt100 million and once completed will have a show capacity of 600 seats.
Simon Star Show will be the third so-called ladyboy (third gender) show after two shows both located near Patong bay; Phuket Simon Cabaret and Aphrodite Cabaret Show that opened last September.
The new venture will have 16 performances involving 70 actors supported by over 80 service staff. Each of the three daily shows will last one hour and 15 minutes; with start times of 1800, 1945 and 2130.
According to Simon Star Show managing director, Pornthep Rouyrin, the show should attract audiences of 30% locals and 70% tourists.
VIP seat ticket prices have been set at Bt800 for adults and Bt600 for children, while standard seats are Bt100 cheaper. The attraction uses the same ticket rate as the two other shows.
However, when compared to the 938-seat Aphrodite Cabaret Show, Simon Star Show has a smaller capacity.
Aphrodite Cabaret Show also offers three daily shows featuring 80 actors and supported by 100 staff.
