Annual Vat Phou festival

VIENTIANE, 30 January 2012: The annual Vat Phou festival will take place 5 to 7 February.
The Vat Phou festival is held annually during the full-moon night of the third lunar month. This year it falls on 7 February.
Activities include parades, traditional sports competitions such as boat racing, catch-ducks and breaking pots, concerts, market fairs, and light and sound stage shows.
Last year, Vat Phou celebrated its 10th Anniversary of its designation as a World Heritage site.
Vat Phou opens daily from 0800 to 1800 (1630 for museum). Admission fee is 30,000 kip (around US$4). Every full-moon night it opens from 180 to 2100 with Lao traditional performances. Tickets cost 30,000 kip.
The complex is about 8 km from Champasak town, south of Pakse. Overall, the province has around 3,500 rooms in hotels and guesthouses to accommodate visitors.
