Arrivals positive in November

BANGKOK, 7 December 2010 – Tourist arrivals registered at Suvarnabhumi Airport in November surpassed 1 million according to Royal Thai Police, Immigration Division II data, released last week.
The raw data gives a daily tally, which stood at 1,044,071 foreign passport holders for November recorded at Bangkok’s main airport. The performance improved 6.14% from 983,669 during the same month last year. In addition, the bureau recorded 219,530 Thais travelling overseas.
Chinese arrivals stood at 89,271, up 10.13% from 81,053 during the same month, last year, making it the largest source market for the month. In November last year, China ranked second, after Japan.
The second highest supplier was Japan (88,527), down from first place last year. However, visits increased 5.98% compared to 83,528 in November last year. Russian arrivals increased from eighth to third place with 71,852, an increase of 75.34% over 40,978 last year.
Other top markets: India (68,592); UK (57,877); Korea (55,909); Germany (53,069); US (50,435); Malaysia (39,282) and France (37,009).
Over 11 months, the country recorded 8,425,150 foreign arrivals through the Bangkok aviation gateway.
Outbound trips by Thais reached 219,530 in November, up 5.73% from 207,630 in the same month last year. From January to November, 2,648,724 Thais travelled overseas departing from Suvarnabhumi Airport.
