Airline packs to Asia’s theme parks

BANGKOK, 2 September 2010 – Royal Orchid Holidays rolls out ROH Six Journeys and Fun Plus, a series of theme park packages in five countries in Asia in a campaign that runs until 30 September to capture school holiday bookings, but competition is tough from the likes of Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines.
The Thailand market promotion covers Hong Kong Disneyland, Universal Studios Singapore, Seoul Everland, Tokyo Disneyland, Osaka Universal Studio and Kuala Lumpur Sunway Lagoon.
Packages include a roundtrip economy-class airfare with associated taxes and surcharges (subject to change due to currency fluctuations), two night’s accommodation with breakfast and a one-day pass to a theme park. Prices vary according to the travel period.
The cheapest offer at Bt16,005 is for Hong Kong Disneyland staying at Kimberly Hotel (double occupancy). There are 19 choices of hotels in Hong Kong.
Also, Cathay Pacific Airways has just renewed its Hong Kong Disneyland Buy Two Get One Free campaign for travel 1 September through to 15 December. Customers residing in Phuket who buy this package can travel non-stop to Hong Kong on a Dragon Air flight.
Inclusive in the package are return economy-class airfare, accommodation, Hong Kong Disneyland pass and roundtrip airport transfer in seat-in coach. Nine hotel choices are available.
The price for a two-night stay is Bt21,000 at Disney’s Hollywood and Bt22,800 at Hong Kong Disneyland, excluding taxes and surcharges of about Bt2,000 There is also a one-night package available. Guests staying at these themed hotels can enjoy a late checkout, Disney FASTPASS® and Stay2Day offer.
Comparing prices of ROH and Cathay’s packages based on the same hotels (Park Lane and Gateway) ROH quotes the Park Lane at Bt19,595 and Gateway at Bt18,875 for an adult.
Cathay quotes Bt24,800 (including airport taxes and surcharges) for both hotels.
Singapore’s new theme park, Universal Studios is also featured in the ROH programmes. ROH sells a two-night package from Bt15,460 (Miramar Hotel) for an adult double occupancy. An additional feature is a one-way transfer from airport to hotel or from hotel to Universal Studios. There are nine hotels on offer but none on Sentosa.
Singapore Airlines packages a flight, accommodation and theme park pass, valid until 31 December. It has an advantage over other airlines due to a preferred relationship with Singapore Tourism that ensures it gains more freebies than offered to foreign airlines.
A Sentosa Getaway four-day/ three-night package is priced at Bt19,250 for two adults sharing at Amara Sanctuary Resort; Bt22,150 at Sentosa Resort and Spa; Bt22,050 at Resorts World at Sentosa – Hotel Michael; Bt20,850 at Resorts World at Sentosa – Festive Hotel and Bt24,000 at Resorts World at Sentosa – Hard Rock Hotel.
It includes accommodation with daily breakfast, roundtrip airport transfer in a coach, admission fee to Sentosa Island, admission fee to Universal Studio (for weekday use, Bt100 surcharge for weekend) and a choice of five Sentosa Island Attraction packages.
The Universal Studios three-day/ two-night package, offers hotels on both Sentosa and in the tourist districts. Prices start at Bt9,950 with no breakfast and Bt10,350 with breakfast at City Hub.
ROH’s lowest offer for a three-day/two-night stat at Miramar Hotel is Bt15,460, including taxes and surcharges.
ROH offers Fun Plus in Kuala Lumpur at the Sunway Lagoon– a water amusement park and a zoo all in one. Customers can stay one night at Sunway Hotel and one night in town.
The lowest price is Bt13,980 for a city hotel such as Quality Hotel City Centre; Bt15,760 at Corus Hotel and Bt15,520 at Grand Millennium.
A package to Seoul Everland in Korea starts from Bt24,455 for a stay in Nobless Hotel. There is one-way transfer from hotel to the Everland or vice versa. Prices for Tokyo Disneyland package are Bt30,155 staying at Shinjulu Washington and Bt30,955 at Shinagawa Prince.
Last on the list is Osaka Universal Studio, priced Bt30,255 for a stay at Vista Grande Standard and Bt31,940 at Namba Oriental Standard.
