Vietnam’s Golf Coast operators join hands

BANGKOK, 18 August 2010 – Resorts, golf courses and a golf tour operator have formed a partnership, Vietnam Golf Coast, to promote Danang as a viable Southeast Asia golf destination for overseas golfers.
Members of the Vietnam Golf Coast are:
• Montgomerie Links Vietnam: designed by current European Ryder Cup Captain, Colin Montgomerie. Opened in August 2009m it was recently ranked Southeast Asia’s seventh top course.
• Danang Golf Club: designed by Greg Norman, opened in May this year. The Dunes Course at Danang GC is mentioned by Golf Digest Singapore “as close as you’ll come (in Asia) to the UK’s great links courses”
• The Nam Hai: an all-villa property
• Life Resort Danang: the newest five-star hotel in Dannag, opened in March this year.
• Golfasian Vietnam has been named the official tour operator of the Vietnam Golf Coast. It is a sister company of Golfasian, a tour operator.
“The golf offerings in Danang are new and a variety of factors have conspired to peg Danang as a top golf destination in the country, and one of the best in Southeast Asia,” said Golfasian CEO, Mark Siegel.
The courses in Danang are conveniently located 15 minutes from the airport and across the road from the Nam Hai and Life Resort Danang, he explained. This sets them apart from courses near Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi that are some distance from airports or hotels.
Montgomerie Links general director, Jon Tomlinson, added that other golf courses and hotels were expected to join the cooperative in short order as there are more golf courses in various stages of construction and planning in the central coast region.
