Thai prime minister to attend TCT event

To mark its ninth anniversary, Tourism Council of Thailand schedules a seminar, 9 August, at Centara Grand at CentralWorld, with support from the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Thai Airways International.
TCT says Prime Minister, Abhisit Vejjajiva and Finance Minister, Korn Chatikavanij will make presentations at the event.
Named “9th Anniversary of Tourism of Tourism Council of Thailand: Moving Towards Sustainable Thailand Tourism Industry,” the event will open with a speech by the Finance Minister, Korn Chatikavanij, on World Economy and the Direction of Thai Economy followed by a panel discussion.
There will be three guest speakers:
Fiscal Policy Research Institute Foundation honorary advisor, Dr Narongchai Akrasanee, on Liberalisation of services in ASEAN and Competition in Tourism Industry;
Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organisation deputy executive director, Prasertsuk Jamornmarn, on Global Warming and Crisis or Opportunity for Tourism;
Pacific Asia Travel Association CEO, Greg Duffell, on Modern Marketing and Tourism Opportunity.
The event will close with Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva addressing the theme “Thai tourism”
At the close of the event, Tourism and Sports Minister, Chumpol Silapa-archa, will present awards to 10 provincial governors and local administrative organisation leaders who have supported tourism development.
Regarding the awards, TCT president, Kongkrit Hiranyakit, said this was the first time TCT has been involved and the objective was to recognise quality tourism destinations and local executives who understood tourism and demonstrated vision.
The event is free of charge. About 900 participants from government sectors ,the tourism industry, NGOs, educational institutions and media will attend.
There will be also simultaneous translations for foreign guests.
