Exotissimo’s Hamish Keith, 43, is taking eight days off his gruelling business routine to compete in an ultra endurance event in South Africa that attracts world-class off road cyclists.
Exotissimo’s group business development director, Hamish Keith, will compete in a gruelling eight-day mountain bike race starting 21 March in Cape Town South Africa.
He is joined by Chiang Mai resident, Jon Malnick, also an avid competitive cyclist. They make up the two-man Exotissimo Team Thailand, the only Asian team participating in the 800-km cycling marathon that covers off-road trails in the Western Cape region of South Africa.
They have been training for six months for the race mainly in North Thailand climbing Doi Suthep, the hard way on a network of narrow trails to the summit beyond the temple where trail gradients exceed 43%.
The 2010 Absa Cape Epic Mountain Bike Challenge with over 16,000 metres of climbing is considered to be one of the toughest ultra endurance mountain bike races in the world.
Over 1,200 riders from around the world have registered for this year’s race including several Olympic champions and the current world cross country champion.
Hamish and Jon are raising funds for the Exotissimo Foundation that supports worthy causes in the Mekong Region, mainly in community welfare and emergency relief.
