Pattaya 8th International Music Festival 2010 will extends its boundaries to cover 3.5 km of beach front with organisers claiming it will be Asia’s longest beach festival venue capable of attracting 500,000 visitors.
The three-day event scheduled, 19 to 21 March, is managed by Tourism Authority of Thailand, Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organisation and Pattaya City as a part of a wider nation-wide campaign “Amazing Thailand Amazing Value” to stimulate domestic travel.
TAT deputy governor for marketing communication, Prakit Piriyakiet said: “The event is part of TAT’s strategy to create confidence in tourism and promote Thailand as a value-for-money destination for international travellers. Besides, TAT will celebrate its 50th anniversary, 18 March, so this will be our kick-off event.”
Last year, the event attracted about 480,000 visitors and generated around Bt500 million in revenue for the resort.

Now tourism creativity is a topic for wide spread discussion, we can use creativity to add features to the Pattaya Music Festival. Tourism decision makers should include Thai folk cultural music like Pleng Choi, Pleng Rua, Pleng Ten Kum Ram Keiw, Ri kae, Ram Tad etc.in the programme.
It is the most effective channel to introduce Thai folk cultural music to foreign visitors and Thai young generation who widely attend this festival. The producer of the festival can create an attractive Thai folk cultural music showing that it can co-exist with modern music. I hope everyone will agree that Rap and Hip Hop music are quite similar to Ram Tad and Pleng Choi.
The challenge is we have to pass on these ideas to the producer and find the best artists of those Thai folklore music to show at this festival so foreign visitors will understand the meaning and appreciate our music too. This is what tourism creativity is all about?
