PTT sponsors LPGA Thailand

The Honda-PTT LPGA Thailand 2010 will be held at the Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course, 18 February to 21 February, featuring a strong field of contenders who will compete for US$1.3 million in prize money.

Tickets for the tournament are on sale at Thai Ticket Major outlets, or www.thaiticketmajor.com. Admission on Wednesday and Thursday costs Bt200 per day, Saturday Bt300 and Bt400 on Sunday. A four-day fee costs Bt600.

Players include Lorena Ochoa, Jiyai Shin, Paula Creamer, Cristie Kerr, Suzann Pettersen, Ai Miyazato, Michelle Wie, Virada Nirapathpongporn and Russamee Gulyanamitta

Honda’s Thailand president, Atsushi Fujimoto, a co-sponsor of the tournament, confirmed participation of almost all of the world’s top fifty female professional golfers including Hee-Won Han, the 2006 champion; Suzann Pettersen, the 2007 winner; and Lorena Ochoa, last year’s winner and the current Rolex Rankings number one player.

Also confirmed are Paula Creamer and Ai Miyazato in addition to Michelle Wie who is among the most popular golfers in Thailand – now ranked 14th, worldwide.

According to Mr Fujimoto, Honda  will give a Honda Accord 2.4 EL to the first player to shoot a hole in one on the 186 yard par 3 16th hole. The prize is valued at Bt1.6 million (approximately US$48,000). As a bonus the first player to hit a hole-in-one on the 16th hole, gets a gas-refilling voucher worth US$10,000.

The attendance of top Thai golfers, Virada Nirapathpongporn, Russamee Gulyanamitta, Ariya Juthanugarn, and Nonthaya Srisawang was announced by the co-title sponsor, PTT Group.

From 15 February onwards, top golfers will practice at the Siam Country Pattaya Old Course.
