Lux Development has a vacancy for a hospitality and tourism school operations expert to work in Vientiane, Laos, on a 24-month contract. The International Technical Assistant to the LAO/020 project should be appointed by August.

Lux Development is supporting a new academic venture, Lao National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality, scheduled to open in January 2012.When fully operational, LANITH will serve as many as 450 full-time students and 450 part-time trainees at any given time.

It will be supported by 45 staff including teachers, administrators, maintenance personnel and technical advisers.

The LAO/020 project, through LNTA, has employed a core team of 18 teachers, who are currently undertaking advanced studies in tourism and hospitality in Luxembourg and Singapore and who will return to Lao PDR in October 2011.

Eventually, LANITH will be under responsibility of LNTA and the Ministry of Education (MoE).

Applications should have the following qualification:

A Master’s degree in a field related to hospitality and tourism or education and training or related work experience;

Experience in diploma-level hospitality, tourism education and training institutes (including understanding of systems and procedures);

Knowledge of tourism human resource development issues;

Experience in lecturing in hospitality and tourism subjects;

Overseas experience in international development, preferably in SE Asia;

Fluency in English language – French/Lao language desirable;

Planning and organisation skills;

Self-motivating and optimistic, enjoy working in an informal or non-structured environment;

Ability to lead, coach, motivate and work with cultural sensitivity and a respect for diversity.
