KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has its so-called Economy Comfort Zone available on the Bangkok-Amsterdam and Bangkok-Taipei routes.
Passengers can choose this class by paying a surcharge, but Flying Blue Platinum members and passengers flying on a fully flexible Economy Class ticket can reserve Economy Comfort seats free of charge.
A seat in the new Economy Comfort zone gives passengers more legroom, from 31 inches to 35 inches and the seat reclines twice as far as a standard seat, from 3.5 inches to 7 inches. The service and meals in Economy Comfort are the same as those in economy class.
The fee for an Economy Comfort seat will range from Euro 40 to Euro 150 for a one-way trip, depending on the distance covered. From Bangkok to Taipei, the fee is Euro 20 (Bt1,000) while from Bangkok to Amsterdam, Euro 120 (Bt6,000).
Economy fares to Amsterdam on a non-stop KLM flight, during March, start from around Bt51,435, all inclusive and Taipei, Bt7,600 all-inclusive.
KLM operates Boeing 747-400 Combi with 38 seats in economy comfort zone, 195 in economy class and 42 in business class.
Economy Comfort zone modification started in September 2009 and was first introduced on long-haul flights last December.
