TAT governor signs contract

TAT’ new governor, Suraphon Svetasreni, signed off on a four-year contract at an official ceremony yesterday, 22 December, at the Ministry of Tourism and Sports office.
The ceremony was witnessed by the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Chumpol Silapa-archa, TAT chairman of the board, Wichai Srikwan, TAT ex-governor and international marketing advisor, Phornsiri Manoharn and representatives from the private sector.
Federation of Thai Travel Associations spokesperson, Charoen Wangananont, said: “This is the first time that the private sector has been invited to a signing ceremony for a TAT governor.”
Mr Suraphon said he would focus on four priorities: Placing greater emphasis on digital marketing; strengthening Thailand’s brand image; promoting sustainable tourism and ensuring effectiveness in crisis management response. He said he was confident he could fulfil the 16 million visitor 2010 target set by the Minister of Tourism and Sports.
The new TAT governor will start work, 4 January, 2010 and attend his first TAT board meeting, 19 January. He will hold the post until 21 December 2012, which is one day before his retirement.
