Thai Airways International and Amadeus signed a Memorandum of Understanding that allows the airline to assess the first phase in the roll out of the Amadeus Altéa Customer Management System (CMS), the official Common IT Platform (CITP) that is being adopted by Star Alliance.
THAI’s executive vice president, commercial department, Pruet Boobphakam, said that THAI’s decision to sign the MOU was based on it being a founding Star Alliance member.
“We have a commitment to the group, which selected Altéa as its CITP. Furthermore, the assessment of Altéa is an obvious choice given THAI’s long-time partnership with Amadeus.”
As the Star Alliance CITP, Altéa will enable THAI to have a single data platform, providing synergies with partner airlines, and offering customers a consistent level of service across airlines. Full migration to the Altéa system will also help THAI to cross-sell and service customers more effectively with its partner airlines.
Although THAI has used the Amadeus reservations system for the past 19 years, the MOU lays out plans for the carrier to begin a complete evaluation of the implementation of the Amadeus Altéa Ticketing, Inventory and Departure Control modules. These will replace THAI’s long standing ROYAL in-house system, which is in need of a major system upgrade.
Amadeus Asia Pacific, president, David Brett, said: “By joining other Star Alliance member airlines in using the CITP, THAI will be able to maximise its partnership with these carriers, pool IT resources and ultimately build passenger loyalty through seamless service at consistently high levels.”
Fifteen Star Alliance member carriers, including Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines, in addition to 50 other airlines around the world, have chosen the full Amadeus Altéa CMS platform.
