I am frightened to learn from a TV news report that the pilot who died in this accident sacrificed himself by sliding the plane to the unused tower, an action that saved the lives of passengers. If he had done that, the plane would have hit the fuel tank nearby. If this report is true, I suggest that Bangkok Airways have to move the fuel tank further away from the runway limit to improve the security of the airport.

Thanks for the correction. The previous fatal accident in Samui was November 1990 not December 1987.

Bangkok Airways had 2 fatal accidents:
07. Dec 1987 was in Udon Thani
21. Nov 1990 was in Samui, killing all passengers and crew on board

The one you are refering in your article above in 1987 took place in Udon Thani and not in Samui.

Best regards
