A half-year holiday break

Thais can enjoy a five-day holiday before they begin the three-month Buddhist Lent.
Thailand will enjoy an extended public holiday, Monday 6 July through to Wednesday 8 July. The holiday marks Asarnha Bucha Day, 7 July and Khao Pansa, 8 July, a full-moon day that heralds the start of the three-month Buddhist Lent.
The government this year has added Monday, 6 July, to the holiday to give Thais a five-day break from work when the weekend is included.
It is encouraging people to spend on travel in the hope that it will give a boost to the economy.
