thailand-buddhist-lentThais can enjoy a five-day holiday before they begin the three-month Buddhist Lent.

Thailand will enjoy an extended public holiday, Monday 6 July through to Wednesday 8 July. The holiday marks Asarnha Bucha Day, 7 July and Khao Pansa, 8 July, a full-moon day that heralds the start of the three-month Buddhist Lent.

The government this year has added Monday, 6 July, to the holiday to give Thais a five-day break from work when the weekend is included.

It is encouraging people to spend on travel in the hope that it will give a boost to the economy.

TTR Weekly’s daily editions will resume on Thursday, 9 July and in the meantime we wish every one a very relaxing holiday and safe journeys throughout the Kingdom.
