Paresa Resort will open this June on a site overlooking Kamala Beach, Phuket, with 20 villas to and the full complement of 49 units later in the year.

Asean tourism leaders check out the cruise market with field trips to Thai piers.
Thailand and Singapore will co-operate to build a cruise business in the Asean region.
The objective is to link Singapore’s Marina Bay with its integrated resorts due to open in 2010 with Thailand’s Royal Coast development in the Gulf of Thailand.
Meeting on co-operation were held, 19 May at the Ministry of Tourism and Sports office, as a follow-up on earlier talks between Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports and Singapore’s Minister of Trade and Industry, during the Asean Tourism Forum in Vietnam in January. Read more
Thai AirAsia talks expansion

There appears to be no finishing line for Thai AirAsia as plans expansion in China.
Thai AirAsia is planning to new services to Hangzhou, China, this December and may fly to India next year.
Thai AirAsia CEO, Tassapon Bijleveld, confirmed, last week, the airline had filed an application to fly to Hangzhou, to tap airport incentives for the airline that operate direct flight from Bangkok. Read more
Malaysia Airlines starts web check-in

Malaysia Airlines’ web check-in is now available in Bangkok and most cities in its network.
Check-in via the internet is now available across most of Malaysia Airlines’ network, with the exception of Bandar Seri Begawan, Kunming, Paris, Macau, Amsterdam and Xiamen.
In addition to passengers using MH flights, web check-in is also available to i those who travel on flights operated by MASwings, code-share flights operated by Malaysia Airlines and those who travel on connecting flights with the airline’s 14 partners. Read more

To support its A380 launch on the Bangkok-Dubai route, 1 June, Emirates roll outs special fares for internet users.
Fares to Dubai are valid 1 June with a return trip by 20 June, at Bt11,155 in economy class and Bt27,645, business class. The fares are inclusive of fuel surcharge but on limited seats. Read more
THAI scrapes out a profit

Airline’s cost cutting and declines in fuel prices helped it declare a profit before tax for the first quarter 2009.
Thai Airways International’s first quarter delivered a profit before tax of Bt 8,064 million, an increase of Bt 4,807 million representing an improvement of 147.6% over the same period last year.
The net profit was Bt 7,869 million or Bt4.63 per share, which was higher than a net profit of Bt 2,216 million or Bt1.30 per share in the same period last year. EBITDA was Bt9,512 million. Read more
