Finnair bundles onward flights in Europe and in Finland in a single ex-Bangkok fare.

Finnair sells a business class fare to Helsinki at Bt82,000 that also includes onward connections to other domestic points and specified European cities in the network. The quoted fare excludes taxes and surcharges.

The promotion, AY Summer Delight runs until 30 June for sales and travel that must be completed by 31 August. The fare includes two free stopovers at Helsinki. Taxes and surcharges to Helsinki are around Bt9,700.

The airline’s client manager, Nantiya Wongrojaree, told TTR Weekly that the priority was to sell to the corporate sector and sell business seats to gain a higher yield.

“Even though companies are cutting their travel budgets, we can still get business because we lower the fare to an affordable level.”

Overall, Ms Nantiya said that, from January to April, revenue increased over the same period last year by about 10% and ticket sales in business class seats were up approximately 20%.

“Looking at onward bookings through September, figures are promising. However, this does not mean firm revenue because there could be cancellation along the way.”

Currently, Finnair has what it calls an early bird campaign for travel complete by 31 July. Selling period will end 30 June. It offers a free stopover in Helsinki. Exclusive of taxes and surcharg es, the fares start from Bt20,000 between Bangkok and European cities and from Bt22,000 to Finland’s domestic cities.
