Teakwood boat serves as dinner cruise in the old city.
Ayutthaya Boat and Travel has launched a teakwood boat dinner cruise on the Chao Phraya River.
Although the company has operated tours for more than five years, this is the first using its own teakwood boat.
“At first I intended to send my clients to local boat operators but standards have declined so I decided to enter the boat tour business myself,” said company owner, Nithi Subhongsang.
He says the selling point is that almost the entire boat is made of genuine teakwood and this makes it different from other boats plying the river near Ayutthaya.
The boat carries 20 passengers per trip and offers trips on the river to view the ancient city’s main attractions. The 90-minute cruise passes various tourists sites on a circular cruise of the city. They are: Putthaisawan Temple, St Joseph Catholic Church, Chai Wattanaram Temple, The Memorial Stupa of Queen Suriyothai, Phet Fortress, Phananchoeng Temple. There are English speaking guides are on board.
The company offers private charter tours and join-in trips with four dining menus. The price is quoted at Bt750 per person for the join-in trip and Bt2,000 per hour for a private charter trip. Transfer services to and from hotels within the province cost Bt70 per person.
